Authors Blog Tour…A New Approach

Belinda Y. Hughes tagged me in this blog tour, which is a spin-off of the Writing Process blog tour, a blog tour she has participated in before.

Here are Belinda’s blog tour questions for me:

If you were beginning your writing career today, what would you do differently?

I would learn about social networking immediately. Authors are responsible for much of their own promotion and they need to understand the platforms so many readers use today. When I signed my first contract, Facebook, Twitter and Google might as well have been words from a foreign language. I’ve spent the last couple of years running to catch up while self educating on the vast wastelands of the internet.

What’s the one thing about you that might surprise readers?

I’m a chronic hair twirler. Seriously, I always have a hank of hair entwined in my fingers. In fact, when I cut my hair in preparation for chemotherapy, my girlfriends saved a hank and sewed it into a headband so I could twirl while I was bald. 🙂

Tell us a little about your main character in your latest book.

Jane is a bit of a klutz but it’s her free spirit that earned her the nickname, Calamity Jane. She lives life on her terms, despite her family’s disapproval, and deals with the fallout from her choices with a shrug, and often, a grin.

What are some of your favorites…

Color?  Green. Like the hills around our ranch in the mountains.

Food?  Lobster. I grew up in New England, you see. Yummmmm!

Place? Well, you saw the pic of the road to my ranch and it’s pretty terrific up there, but I grew up surrounded by water. The ocean, a calm lake, I love them both.

Now, I am tagging the following authors in this post:

 JM Stewart

JM is the author of passionate, heartfelt contemporary romance. She’s a wife, a mother, a spiritualist, and lover of puppies, and happily addicted to coffee and chocolate. She lives in the rainy Pacific Northwest with her husband, two sons, and two very spoiled dogs. She’s a hopeless romantic who believes everybody should have their happily-ever-after and has been devouring romance novels for as long as she can remember. Writing them has become her obsession.

Georgie Tyler

Georgie Tyler lives on Sydney’s leafy North Shore with her husband and three children. After years of being a stay-at-home mum she decided to branch out and return to university to study teaching and pursue her lifelong dream of becoming a writer. When she’s not teaching or writing she likes to watch movies, catch up with family and friends, and has been known to dally on social media.

And last but certainly not least…

LaVerne Clark

A proud Kiwi, I write Romance. Whether its fantasy or suspense, I love to take my readers off-the-beaten track to explore hidden pockets of New Zealand.

Like the heroines in my stories, I married my own gorgeous hero and have been blessed with both a son and daughter. I’m involved with the charitable organization, “Greyhounds As Pets” after falling in love and adopting my own ex-racing greyhound. Perhaps, in the back of my mind was the old adage of owners looking like their dogs; but sadly, my legs don’t seem to have got any longer and my waist hasn’t shrunk to minuscule proportions. But on a good note, at least my nose isn’t any longer!

I want to thank all of the authors who participated in this blog tour.  Let’s keep it going!  Feel free to link back to my post and tag other authors!  Happy posting!  🙂
