Welcome to another addition of 6 Sentence Sunday. Last week I introduced you to my non-fiction, Breast Cancer Guide, WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE YOUR NIPPLE? due out next month. You can find the post here. This week’s six is from the chapter on dealing with cancer stress. On those rare days I didn’t have a cancer related appointmentk, I allowed myself to go on cancer vacation. I thought of the process as slipping into Scarlett O’Hara mode. What’s that you ask? Here’s my explanation:

‘I can’t think about that right now,’ Scarlett said. ‘If I do, I’ll go crazy. I’ll think about that tomorrow.’
Oh yeah, Scarlett, I know the feeling. I was Scarlett so often in the weeks leading up to surgery I may as well have been wearing a dress made out of drapes. I think I even started to speak with a southern accent.

I’m still in the process of preparing the ms for release. Talented artist Lisa Scholder has a heart for Breast Cancer Survivors and has graciously offered one of her works, Open Heart, for the cover. Open Heart is featured in the Bodies of Courage Calendar from facesofcourage.org

You can find more of Lisa’s creations and learn all about her at her website: LisaScholder.com

This is just a draft but thanks to Lisa’s incredible talent, the final draft can’t help but be spectacular. I’d love your opinion.

As always, I love hearing from friends and strangers alike and appreciate your comments. Thanks so much for stopping by. And don’t forget to check out the talented authors contributing to Six Sentence Sunday. You can find them by clicking on the snazzy banner at the top of this post.

  1. Wow! Mack, the cover looks great! Kudos to Lisa, and what a kind and generous thing she did! Telling you this was a good six seems so shallow, or something. But, I do think it is. A big hug to you–such strength you have. :-)

  2. Kate Warren says:

Funny, I’ve used that Scarlett quote more than a time or two myself during tough times. It reinforces my theory that Gone with the Wind contains a quote for pretty much every situation in life. Great cover too, BTW!
